Our History

HOMAT Group of Schools was founded with a simple yet powerful vision: to provide sound, functional education that equips children with the knowledge, skills, and character they need to succeed in life.

What started as a modest dream has grown into one of Ikorodu’s most respected educational institutions, a school community known for academic rigor, moral integrity, and a consistent track record of achievements across academics, sports, entrepreneurship, and the arts.

Our Early YearsIn our formative years, HOMAT focused on building a strong foundation for pupils in the Kindergarten and Basic levels, instilling literacy, numeracy, discipline, and a love for learning. Even in those early days, the results were evident:

• Pupils consistently excelled in classwork and external competitions.
• Parents quickly recognized the school’s unique balance of academic excellence and character development.
• Word of mouth spread, and HOMAT began attracting students from beyond Ikorodu.

Rising to ProminenceBy the mid-2000s, HOMAT had expanded into Junior and Senior Secondary education, offering a broad curriculum that prepared students for WAEC, NECO, and life beyond the classroom. This expansion marked the beginning of our rise on state, national, and international stages.

• 2012 – HOMAT achieved international recognition at the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering Project Olympiad (I-SWEEP) in Houston, Texas, USA, with students winning the Honorable Mention Award.
• 2012 – At the National SAGE Exhibition, HOMAT students earned the Best Environmental Project Award, showcasing innovation and social responsibility.

These early accolades set the tone for a culture of achievement that has defined HOMAT ever since.

Three Decades of Consistent Excellence

HOMAT became a regular name in winners’ circles:

• Victories in JETS Day Quiz Competitions, Project Design contests, and Spelling Bees.
• Prestigious awards in NAPPS Sports Competitions, including gold medals in athletics, football, and basketball.
• Science and innovation triumphs in the Brain Box Science Exhibition, Ikorodu Zone.
• Multiple entrepreneurship awards at SAGE Nigeria, including Best Impact Driven Project and Best Education Project.

Expanding Our ImpactIn recent years, HOMAT’s presence has gone beyond competitions:

• Scholarships – Our Aviation Scholarship Award in 2021 opened opportunities for students to explore aviation careers.
• Sports Leadership – Relay teams, high jump champions, and basketball squads representing us at major Lagos State events.
• Entrepreneurship Excellence – First positions at the National School Entrepreneurship Felicitation Awards, cementing our role in producing innovative, business-minded youth.
